We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a  Management Accountant on a 9 month Fixed Term contract, working 22 hours per week. This role will be ideal if you are studying towards your CIMA, ACCA or ACA.

The role provides financial control, support and challenge as required across a number of key functions including the Training Academy (TA) and Generation Maintenance & Outage Support (GMOS)

You will be a key member of the finance team , providing management reporting and finance business partnering support to the business units.

About the Role

In addition to providing financial contract and support you will also co-ordinate and produce management accounts, forecast and plan at a departmental level, supporting the Financial Controller in the consolidation of business unit reports, forecasts and plans. You will also analyse key financials and value drivers, providing department heads with timely and accurate information to enable effective decision making.

You will also:

  • Monitor and continuously improve appropriate financial controls across departments to ensure the integrity of financial data
  • Support the risks and opportunities reporting process for the business unit
  • Support the Finance Controller in the preparation of scenario analysis for portfolio outage movements and their financial impacts.
  • Undertake relevant management accounting activities in order to ensure business unit results are accurate. To include monthly reconciliations of accruals, review of provisions and liabilities.
  • Maintain and enhance financial functionality of departmental works management and planning systems to provide project cost tracking.
  • Support the wider Generation finance team, ensuring systems and processes are understood and used to drive efficiencies across the finance team.
  • Undertake portfolio support activities as required.


  • You will be part qualified, studying towards a CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification or qualified through experience (preferably within a utility/energy market business)
  • A proactive problem solver, you will have the ability to influence department heads and non-finance staff.
  • You will have strong financial reporting skills and have a high level of individual responsibility coupled with business partnering skills to ensure site activities are delivered on time.
  • You will possess an ability to communicate effectively, with both a wide range of finance and non-finance colleagues.You will also be a good team player, who brings enthusiasm and a positive disposition to the team.
