Group Tax Accountant

Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, our client is looking for a part-qualified / newly-qualified tax professional to provide support with UK tax compliance, reporting and forecasting.

Main Duties:

  • Preparation of annual tax computations and returns for a number of UK entities for timely submission to HMRC.
  • Drafting technical analysis and correspondence to support communications with HMRC.
  • Preparation of tax provisions and tax notes to be included in annual group accounts, and assisting with queries from group auditors.
  • Preparation of monthly and half yearly group tax provisioning.
  • Preparation of corporation tax provisions to be included in subsidiaries’ annual statutory accounts to provide accuracy of reporting.
  • General assistance with group reporting and compliance issues.
  • Transfer pricing - assistance in preparing intra group transfer pricing documentation, including data compilation for CBCR.
  • Assisting with Senior Accounting Officer administration to achieve ongoing compliance
  • Capital project tax analysis to make efficient and robust claims to HMRC.
  • Assistance in forecasting group tax payments on account and tax provisions including in group business planning forecasts.
  • Ad hoc tax projects to support both Group and business unit needs, including payroll, VAT and other indirect taxes and tax accounting more generally.

  • Qualified/Part qualified (ATT/CTA) tax professional adept at researching and reaching sound judgements on tax technical areas.
  • Good project management skills and strong time management skills.
  • Good MS Office skills, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to understand, distil and apply sound tax judgement to difficult commercial transactions and arrangements.
  • Have a good grasp of accounting concepts to better understand impacts to tax treatments in the group.
  • Have an awareness of the Senior Accounting Officer legislation.
  • Self-starter, able to drive projects forward unaided.
  • Highly motivated, good communication skills and a confident decision maker.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels both within and outside the organisation.
  • High level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Lead by example, as well as an excellent team player.
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
