Management of OCGT (Open Cycle Gas Turbine) development projects through to Notice to Proceed (NTP).  Work with advisors and team specialists to deliver projects over a 12 to 18 months time horizon.This role will work with advisors and team specialists to deliver projects for a final investment decision over a 12 to18 months time horizon and then transition through to construction and implementation for the subsequent years.

Development budget c.1m per annum per project

Total project cost c.90m

No direct reports, however internal project team of up to 5 members drawn from other departments

Structure and complete documentation to make project Final investment decision. Working with financial analysts. Overseeing the financial modelling. Completing and verifying outputs of financial models.

Oversee consultant on Development Consent Order  process for follow-on sites and finding future projects

Lead project (internal and external resources adhoc as required)  team to deliver OCGT project

Control external expenditure to obtain value for money

Resolution of local land and planning matters including community relations (council meetings etc)

Working with procurement and Gas technical manager to Tailor the construction arrangements to local situation

Negotiation of site-specific agreements (eg water, security etc.) working with procurement at a local and / or DPL level.

Management of the relationships and negotiation of work scopes for all external advisory contracts (interaction with Group legal as required)

Hand-over and ongoing support of the project to Execution team

Working with site search team to identify further sites

Decisions relating to selection of overall main contractor, operations and maintenance philosophy and funding arrangement to be taken in conjunction with the Head of Gas Development.

Identifying where specialist resources are available internally in DPL and negotiating resource availability with head of gas development and DPL management board. 

Post holder will need to be able to foster a good sense of team work and common goals.  Co-operation will be required with other development manager(s) to optimise the results for the group.

Ability to work through potential set-backs on project and seek innovative solutions

Workload will vary dependent upon the stage of the project and the post holder will be required to exercise discretion to successfully deliver projects

Travel will be required to Selby or London for team meetings as appropriate; to the sites (currently East Anglia or South Wales) and to the offices of key supplies, potentially overseas.


Key skill is ability to manage a complex task with multiple contributors, both internal and external

 Desirable: understanding of GB Electricity Market; project structuring; and/or gas generation technology
